Sugars

We offer several types of sugar, from specialized Belgian Rock Candy to pure dextrose, maltodextrin, and lactose. Listed below are the varieties we keep in stock.

Dextrose (corn sugar)

In stock by the pound. Special order 50 lb bags.

Dextrose is ideal for the priming of beer bottles for secondary fermentation. It improves the quality of beer. It is fully fermentable and leaves a fresh, clean flavour with no cidery aftertaste, and minimum sediment. Dextrose can also be added to beer recipes for enhanced fermentation, and is ideal for distillation purposes. 


Lactose

In stock 1 lb bags. Special order 50 lb bags.

Lactose is a non-fermentable sugar used to sweeten Brown ales and Stouts. It gives a beer a creamy texture, or "milky" flavor as it is called in some countries.


Maltodextrin

Available in 1 lb bag. Special order 50 lb bags.

Maltodextrin is used largely in low gravity beers, and is a non-fermentable sugar added to the boil to add body and mouth-feel to the beer. Maltodextrin does not produce any flavors, and does not add alcohol to your beer.


Belgian Candi Sugar

In stock 1 lb bags. Special order 55 lb bags.

Belgian Canci Sugar is refined from sugar beets and completely fermentable. Candi Sugar helps to maintain the high alcohol content of Belgian Ales without making them overly malty or sweet. Great for Tripels and lighter Belgian Ales.
Use 1-2 lbs. per 5 gallon batch.
100% fermentable

Dark Belgian Candi Sugar

In stock 1 lb bags. Special order 55 lb bags.

Dark Belgian Candi Sugar is refined from sugar beets and completely fermentable. Candi Sugar helps to maintain the high alcohol content of Belgian Ales without making them overly malty or sweet. This sugar will add additional color and flavor. Typically used in Dubbels and Belgian Brown Ales, but there is no reason you couldn't try something else.
Use 1-2 lbs. per 5 gallon batch.
100% fermentable
